The amazing San Juan Islands

Last Friday we headed out of Gig Harbor with thirteen of our friends pulling four boats to Twin Bridges Marina (http://www.twinbridgesmarina.com/ ) located just outside of Mount Vernon, WA.. We launched our boats in the nearby river and headed across the Rosario Straights to the San Juan Islands (http://www.guidetosanjuans.com/ ).

We moored in Friday Harbor and enjoyed the town on Friday. Saturday we headed around San Juan Island on a Killer Whale tour. We were fortunate enough to run into several pods of whales and all kinds of other wildlife. One of our boats actually had a killer whale go so close under his boat that his shallow water alarm went off! After the Orca fun we headed to beautiful Roche Harbor and took in the sites (and food).

On Sunday we woke up to rain and headed back on a "fun" boat ride to Mount Vernon....

Here are some shots of our amazing trip!

Looks like a great trip! I don't even have 13 friends, much less 13 with boats!

Hi! I'm glad you enjoyed San Juan Island. Our whale pods, J, K, and L, are salmon eaters. Only the transients eat seals. (I think we have the "nice" whales!) So, the cute whale resting on the rock was quite safe. Come back again!
